Meet the Coaches

Coach Anderson started as an assistant volunteer track coach for the Clinton (IL) girls junior high team in 1999. That year, the eighth grade 4x200 relay won the Class AA state title and set the Clinton Junior High School record. In 2002, Coach Anderson moved to the high school level and began working with the girls sprint program.

He became head coach in 2011, and from 2012 to 2015 his teams set 67 total records, produced 43 state qualifiers, and earned 20 state medals. The Maroons were sectional champions in 2013, and in 2015, all four Clinton High School relay records were broken. Throughout his career in Clinton, he developed 33 state medalists, 97 state qualifiers, and 73 school/meet records in IESA and IHSA competitions.

For the last three years, Coach Anderson has been the head coach of the girls track team at University High School in Normal, Illinois. In his first year, the team finished fourth in the state. Over the next two years, University High School won back-to-back Class 2A State Championships, bolstering 28 state medalists, 40 state qualifiers, and setting more than 20 meet and school records during that time. In 2024 Coach Anderson was named the IHSA 2A Girls Coach of the year and in 2025 USTFCCCA Girls Illinois Coach of the Year.

Coach Anderson has been the Director and Owner of Illinois Top Times since 2012 and opened the Illinois Top Times Speed Lab this year. He is married to Ann Anderson, and they have two daughters who both ran track in Clinton and at Illinois Wesleyan University. He retired from Anderson Ford, which he owned for 37 years, and is Level 1 certified by USA Track and Field.
